ze made a new song yesterday - I listened to it at work this morning - and this was what I had playing in my head.
So I wrote up a 'story board' and emailed it home to myself - and instead of cooking, cleaning or procrastinating tonight - I made a quick animation.
I hope you like it.
"Story board": I thought this might provide an insight into how I construct my animations - most of my work is initially written rather than drawn (outside of a few key frames here and there), and it rarely comes out as I had planned. This story board presented a slightly grander vision than I achieved, but they always do from my experience...
First: ignored at supermarket (zoom in - fade to further zoomed in - thru supermarket to sad milk box) (out of focus coloured-shadows move in f/g)
show from boxes perspective - fast motion of people walking past box over time
then someone reaches for box "but someone thinks you're great "goes home in the car (do lights passing over shopping bag thru window) "
feel like nothing "
from milks perspective, trees and street lamps moving past the window .."been a waste of time.. "fade to black "
..in that someone's mind.. "
lights up from inside fridge .."great "
shot from behind box (box out of focus in f/g), sits in fridge being ignored as various people open the fridge (lights up) "sendin you this song "
zooming in - shot of milk box - Items stack up and go away as if film was shot every couple of minutes / fast motion ..."you's with i's so you can sing along "door opens kid standing there, reaches for box, touches box on the "I'M" part - "
someone out there thinks *I'M* great " Poured onto cereal - smiling box "
sending me this song "
cereal gets smiling facefrom bowls perspective (can see smiling face - facing cam but looking back at kid behind) kid swoops in and takes a bite, then thrusts fist (and spoon) into air and Grins - sun burst explodes behind him - "
waste of space.. "becomes ad for "So Great!" cereal "now with more bits!" with title card with *service suggestion at bottom of frame - morphs to become shot of box of cereal "
thinks i'm greato>" Zoom out - fade to further zoomed/zooming out - to show cereal box in supermarket, amongst lots of other cereal boxes, people passing by it at regular speed
end but continue animation of people walking past cereal. (from first scene - old woman with a-frame, man with toddler on leash, woman with trolley, etc)
